Inception: quite possibly one of the greatest films ever made! A more intellectual man’s Matrix, deeper on more ‘layers’, much more believable setting that draws you deeper into the film, and oh! that closing shot!
The Expendables:
Kick ass action film that delivers everything you hope it will but think it ultimately wont. This film delivers so much more than you hope!
Looking forward to Scott Pilgrim next!

My Finale

Thanks for being such fabulous work mates, I’ve never felt more at home. Its been an awesome 7 months i shan’t forget.

All I could think about today was:

Cardiff Parkrun 5km event

Well last Saturday I did my first timed event. A 5km run around Bute park in Cardiff. Came in 147th with a time of 27:05. Pretty average but still was nice to get my first timed event under my belt (I hate running. I’m a cyclist by nature and I just cant seem to get the mental focus required for running, but its free and money isn’t something I have at the moment).
What amazed me the most was that it was just the most well organised event I’ve ever seen on a grass roots level. I mean this thing is done every Saturday in a busy inner city park with sophisticated timing equipment, timing tags, barcode ID’s etc and its all done by volunteers. It was incredible.

They post full race results and photo’s of every event and monitor personal best times as well as age average % performance monitoring which is outstanding for monitoring your performance and also for comparing against your friends/race buddies.

A little bit of Altitude

So I was trawling through my old bag of photo’s from some 17 years ago and I came across some old photo’s of some artwork I’d created around 1991/1992 when I was about 17/18. Altitude was an old band name for a band I was in at the time. I designed the logo as a simple pencil sketch than tried to do something on art board. It was about this time I bought my first airbrush after falling in love with HR Giger’s work. The Altitude logo was one of my very first attempts at airbrushing…..

It was rubbish!! Ladies and gentlemen, exhibit A:

Many many years later (yesterday to be precise) I was scanning these old photo’s for prosperity and was really a bit bummed that the original was so shockingly bad (I thought it was cool as hell as an 18 yr old obviously!!)

So AutoCAD and Photoshop in hand I decided to re-work it digitally and see if it could look presentable to the modern world of 2010……

My Best mates birthday

My best mate Jason had his 36th birthday celebrations last night, we had an absolute blast! we started off in the best pub in Aberdare, The Cambrian (obviously!) where i bumped in to some old friends I’d not seen for years! Hello Messa’s Darren and Paul Jones!!, did the usual Witherspoons, Conway, Pickled Pepper then finished the night in the Beluga Bar which was jumping!

Much Jaegermeister & Monster was had by all, along with copious amounts of vodka. Along the way we saw a rugby themed hen night (see pics), Gail (hello Gail o/ ) Jane and Lisa Webb and various other people we’d not seen in years.

Ended the night with Stuart and Kellie having a riotous laugh with Queens who are genuinely hilarious and a right good laugh!

Came home very drunk and very chipper at such an excellent night.

Had a great walk to day up the Breacon Beacons. Walked the 3 highest peaks, weather was absolutely beautiful! could not have picked a better day for it.

Its hot….. damn hot!…. You wanna know how hot it is?!? OPEN A GOD-DAMN WINDOW!!! Its that hot that i’m sitting here in just shorts and it feels like someone has snuck into my house, covered me in a thin film of baby oil and buggered off without me knowing!!

I dont do good in the heat, I’m of the strawberry blonde/ginger variety which means my natural skin colour is pale blue, it takes me a week of sunbathing to turn white!, then I simply burn in the space of about 20 seconds to a nice shade of Zoidberg, and then proceed to peel back to pale blue…. I am definitely NOT a Day Walker!

This guy is hot in another way! I mean this guy puts tommy Lee to shame for theatrics and is playing in the worst possible type of soul destroying band…. the CABERET BAND!!!!

/commence horrified screaming from thousands of musicians the world over…

There’s very few things that make me burst out laughing at full volume while also making my jaw drop in abject silence! This guy has it in spades!

Exam drudgery is finally over! \o/

So I finally got my first professional IT qualification last week \o/ I’m now CompTIA A+ certified. go me!

Also last week I finished my digital darkroom college course and handed in my portfolio, waiting for that to be marked and graded. Was a superb course and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the Cynon Valley area. Its run at Aberdare College by Andrew Davies.

Stress mode de-activated, only myself to blame mind, 2 months CompTIA revision in just 9 days will burn you out! But I passed with 850/900 and 839/900, although I do now have to wait 5 working days before I can send off for my Certificate…. bitches

So what did I do as a way of celebrating….. I went for a walk up my local ‘mountain’ and burnt my arms to Zoidberg…

So while I sit, tied to a bottle of aftersun like an expectant father, I’ll watch a little video that never fails to cheer me up:

So I’ve finished revising for the evening for my CompTIA A+ exam in 10 days time when I’m doing my usual bit of surfing before hitting the sack. Courtesy of Wired.com via a post on Techspot.com I came across this incredibly interesting/disturbing article on the demise of integrity/privacy at Facebook.

Facebook’s Gone Rogue

What’s incredible reading that is the total disregard for end users, the fact that ‘data’ has become more important than the actual people who use the site every single day (myself included). Every day millions of people type up seemingly innocent status updates that they rightly assume only their ‘friends’ can see while all the time, advertisers and possible conflicting parties (work colleagues, the boss, school, etc etc) are quite happily viewing your every word, photo, video, url link without you even being aware (unless you’ve trawled through the quite possibly most deliberately unfriendly settings system known to man/woman/child/fruit bat/squirrel/dolphin!).

Its takes more time to trawl through the ridiculous privacy settings than it does to just delete (or so you think…) everything off your damn profile!!

Its time for a change, quite rightly as the article says, a preferably open source change where one power mad, deranged data mining brigand doesn’t control the entire show!

Viva la Revolution!!
