Memoirs of a Dreamer
Memoirs of a Dreamer
Verse 1
I was just a young man
with the sun against my eyes.
Watching the world go by.
Life was so lonely.
I would sit and dream of wonder,
but never chase it with my hands.
That was foreign lands,
a boundary inside me.
Chorus
I was just a dreamer
dreaming of a life when I could see,
past childhood slavery.
I was just a dreamer
dreaming of the life that I could lead,
that’s now reality.
Verse 2
As a child so lost in thunder,
A mother’s hate was all I had.
The pain of her open hand,
stinging and frightening.
I would hide away inside me,
dreams of maidens fair and kind.
None of them cold and blind,
none of them taunt me.
Chorus
Middle 8
But dreams were all I had,
to take away the pain and tragedy,
of a mothers hate for me.
Chorus
