Dogs of War

DOGS OF WAR

Music – Leon Evans

Lyrics – Leon Evans

Written – April 1999

This song was written during and about the conflict in the former Czechoslovakia. Each verse shows a different side and opinion that always arises during any conflict.

VERSE 1

All is quiet; all is calm, no one suspects the coming storm.

Too late the people cry, too late to save our souls,

Didn’t you see the signs? too late,

unleash the dogs of war.

VERSE 2

It’s too far away for us to get involved,

It’s their civil war, shut my eyes and suffer naught,

got my problems, got my share of doubt,

Our own soldiers dying, for wrong reasons, stop!

CHORUS

Air strike… you have to choose.

Last night.. hundreds died in genocide.

First strike.. to stop the spread of war.

Midnight.. it’s the deadline choose your stall.

VERSE 3

The earth is getting smaller, neighbours far and wide.

One last boundary stands proud, human arrogance and pride.

I cannot go and standby, while dictators slay for God.

Genocidal hatred, crush it now or watch it spread..
